Richard Bradford - Board of Directors
Former State Representative Richard (Dick) Bradford is a national leader on economic development and education legislation. He served three Utah Governors as the Executive Director of the Department of Economic Development and was considered, along with Dane Goodfellow, as a leading architect for the “Utah Model.” The Utah Model was successfully credited with Fortune Magazine’s 1990 choice of Utah as the #1 State for Business. However, the economic success of Utah didn’t stop there. Over the last 23 years, the plan Dick created for skilled workforce, research and development, quality education, and business infrastructure has made Utah a consistent top national economic performer and award winner, like Forbes Magazine 2010-12 #1 Best State for Business.
Dick also served in the State Legislature for 10 years and became a champion for education reform. He sponsored the first technology bill that put computers in the classroom, and chaired the Education Strategic Planning Taskforce that produced a comprehensive plan for restructuring Utah’s education.
He was the Chairman of the Public Education Appropriations Committee for six years and was responsible for over 50% of the State budget.
His charitable service has included many education boards and organizations including: Board of Trustees Salt Lake Community College, Board of Directors Utah Partnership For Education and Economic Development, and Trustee Jordan Education Foundation.
